Le Morte D'Arthur, vol 1 by Sir Malory Thomas
Upon entering the abbey yard, Sir Launcelot caught the attention of King Bagdemagus' daughter as she heard the resounding hooves on the pavement. Curiosity piqued, she promptly rose from her seat and approached a nearby window, where she caught sight of Sir Launcelot. Acting swiftly, she ordered her men to secure his horse and lead it to the stable, while Sir Launcelot himself was guided to a splendid chamber where he could remove his armor. The lady, eager to extend her hospitality, sent him a long gown and personally arrived shortly after. She lavished Sir Launcelot with warm hospitality, declaring him to be the most esteemed knight in the world in her eyes. In haste, she summoned her father, King Bagdemagus, who was a mere twelve miles away from the abbey, accompanied by a retinue of noble knights. As soon as the king dismounted his horse, he made his way directly to Sir Launcelot's chamber.
