Alex Banayan had originally been destined to pursue a career in medicine, as per his parents' wishes. However, at the age of 18, just a month into his pre-med studies in college, he came to the realization that this path was not meant for him.

While engrossed in reading a biography of Bill Gates instead of focusing on his studies, Banayan's curiosity was piqued. He wondered how Bill Gates, a regular 18-year-old like himself, had managed to become the wealthiest man in the world to revolutionize the software industry. This led him to delve into the lives of other successful individuals, such as Steven Spielberg and Lady Gaga, in order to understand their journeys to success.

Unable to find a book that provided satisfactory answers to his questions, Banayan made the decision to write one himself. He embarked on a mission to arrange interviews with Bill Gates and other legendary figures, traveling across the United States to meet them, documenting his discoveries, and sharing them with his generation.

While securing the interviews was one challenge, the real obstacle he faced was funding the travel expenses associated with meeting these influential individuals. However, luck seemed to be on his side when he discovered that the game show The Price is Right was being filmed nearby. He saw winning the show as an opportunity to finance his quest.

After conducting some research, Banayan learned that the more eccentric one's behavior during the casting process, the higher the chances of being selected for the show. Thus, when he arrived on set, he hugged janitors, danced with security guards, and flirted with elderly ladies. His unconventional approach paid off, and he was chosen as a contestant. Despite not knowing how to play the game, Banayan engaged in conversations with his fellow contestants. A kind elderly woman, who had been a loyal viewer for 40 years, took a liking to him and offered valuable advice: always guess low, as guessing too high would lead for elimination.

Hours later, under the bright studio lights, Banayan emerged as the winner of the grand prize—a sailboat with a retail price of $31,188. He promptly sold the sailboat, using the funds to support his ambitious endeavor.
